Editorial Policy

The standards that govern how ProcessorFit produces, reviews, and publishes content about payment processors.

Quick Answer

ProcessorFit is editorially independent. Providers cannot pay for rankings, recommendations, favorable evaluations, or the removal of accurate information. Commercial relationships are disclosed where relevant and do not determine our editorial conclusions. We correct errors when identified and explain what merchants should verify directly with providers.

Independence

ProcessorFit's editorial content is produced independently using publicly available primary sources. No payment processor, financial institution, advertiser, sponsor, or other commercial partner directs our editorial content, methodology, evaluations, or recommendations. Commercial relationships do not determine ProcessorFit's editorial conclusions.

Educational Mission

ProcessorFit exists to help merchants understand payment processing, compare providers, and make better-informed decisions. Our content is designed to help business owners understand how payment processing works, what factors matter for their specific situation, and how to evaluate providers based on accurate, verifiable information.

Editorial content is produced for merchants and is not controlled by provider promotion or commercial terms. Any sponsored or provider-funded material introduced in the future will be clearly labeled and separated from editorial research. We do not overstate certainty. We do not claim to predict approval outcomes or guarantee savings.

No Paid Rankings

Providers cannot buy rankings, recommendations, evaluations, or editorial positions on ProcessorFit.

Payment processors cannot pay to appear higher in organic search results on ProcessorFit, receive a "Best For" designation, appear in Fit Check recommendations, or have accurate information removed or softened.

Clearly labeled advertising, sponsorship, or provider-funded material may be offered separately from organic rankings and editorial recommendations.

Recommendation Philosophy

ProcessorFit recommends the best fit for a given merchant's profile — not a universal winner. When the Fit Check surfaces a list of providers, the order reflects how well each provider's documented capabilities match the merchant's stated needs. It is not a paid ranking.

No processor is perfect for every business. Our content acknowledges trade-offs, notes limitations openly, and includes "Not Ideal For" sections on provider profiles to help merchants self-select out of poor fits — even when that means steering them away from providers with better commercial terms for ProcessorFit.

Affiliate Disclosure

ProcessorFit may use affiliate links or referral relationships with some providers. If ProcessorFit may receive compensation from a merchant's action, that relationship will be disclosed on the relevant page or at the relevant point of action.

Commercial relationships do not influence ProcessorFit's editorial rankings, fit signals, evaluations, or content. Providers are evaluated using the same framework regardless of whether a commercial relationship exists.

Current commercial relationships, if any, are listed on the How ProcessorFit is funded page.

Conflict-of-Interest Policy

ProcessorFit Research maintains a conflict-of-interest standard for all editorial content. Commercial relationships that could create conflicts of interest are identified and disclosed, and content involving potential conflicts is reviewed before publication.

Commercial relationships do not determine editorial conclusions, recommendation order, or correction outcomes.

ProcessorFit does not allow personal investments in individual payment processor companies to influence editorial coverage of those companies.

Corrections Policy

ProcessorFit is committed to publishing accurate information and correcting errors promptly. If you identify incorrect or outdated information, you can submit a correction request through our contact page.

Correction requests are reviewed against available primary sources. If an error is confirmed, the relevant content is updated and the last reviewed date is refreshed. We do not remove accurate information at a provider's request, even if the provider finds the information unfavorable.

Neutrality Standards

ProcessorFit applies the same evaluation framework to every provider regardless of size, market position, or commercial relationship. A large enterprise processor is evaluated against the same criteria as a smaller regional provider.

  • We do not editorialize beyond what public sources support.
  • We do not use superlatives ('the best,' 'the cheapest') without clear, verifiable qualification.
  • We do not publish negative characterizations of providers that cannot be supported by their public record.
  • We include 'Not Ideal For' sections to ensure merchants understand limitations alongside strengths.
  • We apply 'Needs Verification' consistently — including to information favorable to a provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does ProcessorFit earn money from payment processors?

ProcessorFit may earn revenue from some commercial relationships, including affiliate, referral, sponsorship, advertising, or other arrangements. Any relationship relevant to a merchant's decision will be disclosed where it applies. Providers cannot pay for higher organic rankings, favorable evaluations, unsupported recommendations, or removal of accurate information.

Can a payment processor pay to be ranked higher on ProcessorFit?

No. Providers cannot pay for higher placement in organic rankings, Fit Check recommendations, "Best For" designations, or editorial evaluations. Any advertising or sponsored material offered separately from editorial results will be clearly labeled.

How does ProcessorFit handle corrections?

If incorrect information is identified — whether by a reader, a provider representative, or our own review team — we investigate the claim against available primary sources and update the relevant content if warranted. Corrections are applied to the affected page, and the last reviewed date is updated. We do not remove accurate information at a provider's request.

Does ProcessorFit accept sponsored content?

ProcessorFit does not currently publish sponsored editorial content. If sponsored, promotional, advertorial, or provider-funded material is introduced, it will be clearly labeled, will identify the sponsor or provider, and will be separated from ProcessorFit's independent editorial research. Payment cannot purchase a favorable evaluation, ranking, recommendation, or change to editorial conclusions.

What is ProcessorFit's neutrality standard?

ProcessorFit maintains neutrality by evaluating all providers against the same documented framework, using only publicly available primary sources, and applying the same 'Needs Verification' standard regardless of provider size or commercial relationship. We do not favor established brands over smaller providers, nor do we criticize providers beyond what their public record supports.
